We are selling the Japanese font “CANVASs UD Round (MARU) Gothic font”, which is developed to improve visibility. We reconsidered the characters which is often misread and elaborated this new font. Its readability is getting high evaluation from film/Barrier free film industry.

• Not compatible with MAC OS
• True type font
• One license for one device
• As long as it is exported from SSTG1 as the video subtitle data, you can distribute CANVASs UD font worldwide.
• If it is used in DCP or video streaming services (video streaming server), you need to purchase Annual license for DCP(*). It costs 100,000 yen each year.
• The difference between TV and DVD is only the thickness of the fonts. TV font is thicker.
• Distribution and utilization of JIS 90 version and JIS 2004 version are various according to industry and field.
• In JIS 90 and JIS 2004, the shape of some characters is different. Please see the comparison table for the detail.
• The number of characters included in JIS 90 version and JIS 2004 version are same.
  The difference is only in the form of letters, and all of them are listed in the comparison table.
  There is no difference in the characters not on the comparison table.
• JIS 2004 version is a new letter shape created later.
• If you already have CANVASs UD font of either JIS90 or JIS2004 standard, you can purchase the other standard font for half the price.
  This discount is applied to the case that the font type (TV font / DVD font) and the license type (basic / DCP) are the same.

* FA Round (MARU) Gothic font is not currently sold because the font maker company has already finished selling it in 2014.
